Hero Award Winner - June 2002
North Sound Industries

Scott Stiegler and Kitty Higgins
- North Sound Industries, a Woodinville company specializing in installation, reconfiguration and relocation of business office furniture is the most recent recipient of the SCORE Hero Award.
- North Sound Industries was established in 1988. Although it has shown consistent growth during its fourteen year existence, diversity is one to the company's major strengths. Founder Scott Stiegler says that diversity is one of their key employment strategies. "We hire diverse people so that we have a lot of different skills and experience to draw from' according to Stiegler. It's important that we set the stage for mentoring in our workforce. It's a win-win for everybody.
- "We've always made the employee a priority" says operations manager Kitty Higgins, who Stiegler credits for bringing diversity to the company. "Even in the current downturn we find internal non-billable work for our people to ensure that they and their families survive with us. They (the employees) are the reason we were even considered for this award".
- Community contribution is also one of North Sound Industries strengths. "We give back to the community by donating man-hours and vehicles for the Forgotten Children's Fund during the Christmas season' reports Stiegler. " We also support non-profit organizations throughout the region by delivering and installing donated products from two of our largest customers - Eddie Bauer and SAFECO Insurance.
- It is an honor to accept this prestigious award from SCORE> We plan to rely on their expertise during the coming years.
